Common questions about Renew Letter of Good Standing

What it is, whether you need it, and how the process works.

What is the Return of Earnings (ROE)?
The Return of Earnings (W.As.8) is the annual payroll declaration every employer registered with the Compensation Fund must file. The Fund uses it to calculate your COIDA assessment, and it won’t renew a Letter of Good Standing until the latest return is filed and the assessment paid. Filing it is part of this service. Our Return of Earnings guide explains the whole process, and the COIDA calculator estimates what the Fund will assess.
When is the ROE submission deadline?
The statutory date is 31 March, but the Fund opens an online submission window each year. The 2026 window ran from 1 April to 30 June 2026. The portal accepts late returns after the window closes, with a penalty of up to 10% of the assessment.
I missed the ROE deadline. Can you still renew my letter?
Yes. We file the outstanding Return of Earnings, the Fund raises the assessment (a late penalty may be added), and once it’s paid the letter can be renewed. Late is routine; unfiled is what blocks tenders.
