Enterprise Number
An Enterprise Number is just another name for your Company Registration Number.
In South Africa, the two terms are used interchangeably, especially on government forms or supplier databases.
So if a form asks for your Enterprise Number, you don’t need a separate document. You simply use the registration number issued to your company by CIPC.
"Where do I find my Enterprise Number?"
You’ll find it on your:
- CoR14.3 Company Registration Certificate
- CIPC customer profile
- Any official company documents generated after registration
The format will look something like: 2023/012345/07
That’s your Enterprise Number.
"Do I need a separate Enterprise Number for applications?"
No.
There’s no extra process or separate registration required.
Your Company Registration Number is your Enterprise Number, you just enter the same number wherever it’s requested.
"Why do some forms ask for 'Enterprise Number' instead of 'Company Registration Number'?"
Some departments (especially in the public sector) use slightly different terminology.
You’ll often see “Enterprise Number” used on:
- Central Supplier Database (CSD) applications
- B-BBEE forms
- Tender documents
- Municipal or government compliance paperwork
It can be confusing, but they’re referring to the same thing.
"How do I get an Enterprise Number?"
Once your company is registered with CIPC, the number you receive is your official Company Registration Number, and your Enterprise Number.
Govchain takes care of the entire registration process and delivers all your documents, including this number, straight to your inbox.
