CoR14.3 (Company Registration Certificate)

The CoR14.3 is your Company Registration Certificate.

It’s issued by the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) once your company has been officially registered in South Africa.

It confirms your business exists and is now recognised as a legal entity.

"What information is on a CoR14.3?"

The CoR14.3 includes…

  1. Your registered company name (or registration number if no name was reserved)
  2. Your company registration number
  3. The official registration date
  4. The type of company (for example, Private Company – (Pty) Ltd or Non-Profit Company – NPC)

"Why do I need a CoR14.3?"

You’ll need to provide your CoR14.3 whenever you’re asked to prove your business is registered.

This will happen in situations like…

  • Opening a business bank account
  • Registering your company for tax with SARS
  • Applying for tenders, grants, or supplier opportunities
  • Showing clients, funders, or partners that your company is legitimate and compliant

If someone asks for “proof of registration,” they’re referring to the CoR14.3.

"Is a CoR14.3 the same as a tax clearance certificate?"

No. The CoR14.3 confirms that you’re registered with CIPC.

A tax clearance certificate comes from SARS and shows that your tax affairs are up to date

These are two completely different documents.

"Can I get another CoR14.3 if I lose mine?"

Yes.

  • If you registered through Govchain, we’ll email you a digital copy and keep it on file.
  • If you registered directly with CIPC, you can log in to your CIPC profile and request a copy there.

"Does a CoR14.3 expire?"

No, the CoR14.3 does not expire and never needs to be renewed.

But you do need to file annual returns with CIPC every year. If you don’t, your company could be deregistered, even if you have a CoR14.3 on file.

"Can I be registered without a CoR14.3?"

No.

If you don’t have a CoR14.3, your company hasn’t been registered yet.
