CoR14.1 (Notice of Incorporation)
The CoR14.1 is called a Notice of Incorporation.
It’s one of the core documents you receive when your company is registered with CIPC.
While the CoR14.3 proves your company is registered, the CoR14.1 explains how it’s been set up – including its structure, type, and governance basics.
It’s submitted during the registration process and forms part of your official company records.
"What information is on a CoR14.1?"
The CoR14.1 includes…
- Your company’s registered name
- The type of company you’ve registered (e.g. (Pty) Ltd or NPC)
- The date your company was incorporated
- Whether your company uses the standard MOI or a custom one
Together with your CoR14.3, the CoR14.1 forms the legal foundation of your business.
"Why is a CoR14.1 important?"
You won’t use the CoR14.1 as often as your CoR14.3, but it’s still a crucial legal document.
It outlines how your business is structured and governed, which may be needed when…
- Proving the legal type of your business
- Making changes to your MOI (Memorandum of Incorporation)
- Applying for contracts, tenders, or supplier registrations
- Updating CIPC or SARS on structural changes
It helps show other parties (like banks, funders, or government entities) how your company is set up.
"Is a CoR14.1 the same as a CoR14.3?"
No.
- The CoR14.3 is your registration certificate (proof that your company exists)
- The CoR14.1 is your Notice of Incorporation (it shows how your company was) formed and what rules apply to it.
You receive both documents when your company is registered.
"Can I change the details on a CoR14.1?"
Yes, but you’ll need to submit the right forms to CIPC. For example:
- To change your MOI, you’d use a CoR15.2
- To change your company name, you’d file a CoR9.1 and CoR15.2
Changes to the information in your CoR14.1 must be done officially, so you can’t just edit the document yourself.
"Where can I find my CoR14.1?"
If you registered with Govchain, you would’ve received it with your registration pack.
If you registered directly with CIPC, you’ll find it in your customer profile on the CIPC website.
"Do I need to renew or refile the CoR14.1 every year?"
No. The CoR14.1 is issued once, during registration, and does not need to be renewed.
But you should keep it in a safe place with your other company records because it may be needed down the line.
"How do I get a CoR14.1?"
When you register your company through Govchain, we’ll submit all the necessary forms, handle the CIPC admin, and send your full registration pack (including your CoR14.1) directly to your inbox.
